V roku 2024 si pripomíname až 180. výročie od napísania nesmrteľnej ľúbostnej básne Marína od Andreja Sládkoviča. Pri tejto príležitosti vychádza pre slovenských čitateľov nové vydanie tohto jedinečného diela. Marína, lyricko-epická milostná báseň je považované za jeden z vrcholov slovenského romantizmu. Sládkovič sa ako prvý osmelil osláviť v rozsiahlej skladbe krásu a mladosť a vyjadriť svoj cit v radostnom i bolestnom zážitku lásky. Štyri témy, ktorých sa báseň najčastejšie dotýka, sú krása, mladosť, láska k Maríne a láska k Slovensku. Skladá sa z 286 sloh po desiatich veršoch (decim) a piatich sloh osemveršových (oktáv). Spolu má Marína 2900 veršov. Vďaka tomu je Marína 180 rokov najdlhšou ľúbostnou básňou na svete. Hlavným námetom k napísaniu diela bola Andrejovi Sládkovičovi jeho nešťastná láska k jeho študentke Maríny Pišlovej (Pischlovej), s ktorou sa zoznámil a do ktorej sa zamiloval v roku 1839. No Marína sa na žiadosť matky musela vydať za bohatého pernikára. Básnik o svoju lásku nebojoval, ale jej stratu niesol veľmi ťažko, čo sa stalo podnetom na napísanie Maríny v zime roku 1884.

Jmenuje se Marika Grigová a až po uši se do ní zamiluje David z Prahy, studující na stejné Univerzitě jako ona, ale v 1. ročníku. Při rozhovoru ve studentském baru na Náměstí Milana Rastislava Štefánika se David ke svému obrovskému údivu dozvídá, že je sourozencem této až neskutečně krásné dívky, která zmizela z jeho života, když mu bylo 5 let.
