V našem prostředí dosud systematická výkladová monografie Wittgensteinovi věnována nebyla. Přítomná práce se soustřeďuje právě na tzv. "střední", přechodové období s jeho unikátními "fenomenologickými" intuicemi: na úlohu "fenoménů", které vedou a určují logickou formu jazyka vypovídajícího o světě, na rozbor forem barvy, prostoru a času, které jsou nezbytným předpokladem smysluplné zkušenosti, tj. zkušenosti artikulované smysluplným jazykem, nebo na úlohu situovaného aktéra. Obrat k pozdnímu Wittgensteinovi se tak ukazuje ne jako prosté odmítnutí traktátovské koncepce, nýbrž jako složité nahlédnutí toho, že pokus o opravu traktátovského rámce "fenomenologickými" prostředky nebyl úspěšný. Věnuje se systematickým a v menší míře i historickým souvislostem mezi Traktátem a pozdější formální sémantikou. Z nalezených podobností a rozdílů pak vyvozuje závěry ohledně soudobého statusu této disciplíny na pomezí filosofie a empirických věd. Konečně třetí studie formální sémantiku ohledává z hlediska jejího kontrastu s pozdějším Wittgensteinovým myšlením o jazyce.
