The first presentation in book form of Josef Lada (1887-1957) as a major exponent of Central European art of the 20th century, and consequently also a master of world painting. This full-colour pictorial monograph is conceived around the premise that his perennial attachment to quintessentially Czech motifs, the Bohemian landscape, as well as Czech traditions and myths, was essential in enhancing the individuality of his output. In an introductory essay followed by ten thematically focused illustrated chapters, the author of this book documents both Josef Lada´s affinity with many leading figures of world culture (including not only artists), and the uniqueness and exceptionality of Lada´s painterly idiom. The artist´s greatness is seen as stemming primarily from his intrinsically defined creative method which accounts for the overall spirit of harmony emanating from his works and assigning him the status of an artist of worldwide import. Today, in the age of CCTV, drones, medical body scans, and satellite images, photography is increasingly decoupled from human agency and human vision. In Nonhuman Photography, Joanna Zylinska offers a new philosophy of photography, going beyond the human-centric view to consider imaging practices from which the human is absent. Zylinska argues further that even those images produced by humans, whether artists or amateurs, entail a nonhuman, mechanical element--that is, they involve the execution of technical and cultural algorithms that shape our image-making devices as well as our viewing practices. At the same time, she notes, photography is increasingly mobilized to document the precariousness of the human habitat and tasked with helping us imagine a better tomorrow. With its conjoined human-nonhuman agency and vision, Zylinska claims, photography functions as both a form of control and a life-shaping force. Jan Šmíd je fotograf, krajinář. Je jedním ze tří Čechů, kteří jsou nositeli nejcennějšího a nejprestižnějšího fotografického titulu Master QEP (Master Qualified European Photographer udělovaný Federation of European Photographers v Bruselu). Zatím za své fotografie získal více než 200 medailí a ocenění, které pro sebe, ale zejména pro českou fotografii vybojoval na mezinárodních fotografických soutěžích. Když se řekne "fotografie", každý si představí "cvak" a hotovo. Jan Šmíd pracuje metodou skládané fotografie, kdy jeden motiv vzniká z desítek až stovek jednotlivých snímků. Díky tomu jsou jeho fotografie technicky dokonalé. Ve své tvorbě se specializuje na krajinářská panorama a snímky noční oblohy. Nyní nazrál čas, aby vydal svou knižní prvotinu. Amid the ravages of the Great Depression, the United States Farm Security Administration (FSA) was first founded in 1935 to address the country’s rural poverty. Its efforts focused on improving the lives of sharecroppers, tenants, and very poor landowning farmers, with resettlement and collectivization programs, as well as modernized farming methods. In a parallel documentation program, the FSA hired a number of photographers and writers to record the lives of the rural poor and “introduce America to Americans.” This book records the full reach of the FSA program from 1935 to 1943, honoring its vigor and commitment across subjects, states, and stylistic preferences. The photographs are arranged into four broad regional sections but otherwise allowed to speak for themselves—to provide individual impressions as much as they cumulatively build an indelible survey of a nation. The images are both color and black-and-white, and span the complete spetrum of American rural life. They show us convicts, cotton workers, kids, and relocated workers on the road. We see subjects victim to the elements of nature as much as to the vagaries of the global economic market. We find the work of such perceptive, sensitive photographers as Marion Post Wolcott, Jack Delano, Russell Lee, Walker Evans, Ben Shahn, and Dorothea Lange, and read their own testimonies to the FSA project and their encounters with their subjects, including Lange’s worn, weather-beaten and iconic Migrant Mother. What unites all of the pictures is a commitment to the individuality and dignity of each subject, as much as to the witness they bear to this particular period of the American past. The subjects are entrenched in the hardships of their historical lot as much as they are caught in universal cycles of growing, playing, eating, aging, and dying. Yet they face the viewer with what is utterly their own: a unique, irreplaceable, often unforgettable presence. Ylla (1911–1955) devoted herself exclusively to animal portraiture at a time when nobody had thought of only photographing animals. She created something new – the genre of expression and personality in animals. This is the story of a “New Woman” par excellence, Ylla was fearless and knew no limits, and of a pioneer animal photographer in Africa and India. The book tells Ylla’s exciting life: She was part of artists’ circles in Belgrade and Paris, during WWII she fled via Marseille to New York where she started her career again from scratch. Originally taking photos in her studio and in zoos she finally traveled to Africa and India where she died in a tragic accident during a water buffalo race. Ve vůni i chuti se projevuje převážně čokoláda s tropickými tóny banánů a velice jemnými až delikátními tóny manga. Nakonec vás čeká krásný dlouhý a plynulý závěr. Tento rum doporučujeme především k poklidnému popíjení, rozhodně si jej vychutnáte nejlépe čistý, ale neztratí se ani ve vysoce prémiových koktejlech.
