Najnovším prírastkom v edícii Kultúrne Krásy Slovenska je publikácia Múzeá (1 – s celoslovenskou posobnosťou), ktorá voľne nadväzuje na knihu Skanzeny. Slovensko je krajina bohatá na rôzne historicko-prírodovedné a historicko-spoločenské artefakty a priamo úmerne aj na miesta, kde sa s nimi možno oboznámiť. Na našom území možno napočítať množstvo múzeí, ktoré vznikli v rôznych obdobiach a ktoré svedčia nielen o významných nálezoch a udalostiach, ale aj o veľkých osobnostiach slovenského národa, ktoré tvorili, resp. výrazne ovplyvnili jeho dejiny. Hlavným zámerom a cieľom nášho nového knižného projektu je formou publikácie predstaviť najvýznamnejšie múzeá s celoštátnou pôsobnosťou a ich expozície rozmiestnené v jednotlivých regiónoch. Táto knižná publikácia sa snaží byť tak trochu aj sprievodcom a chce čitateľovi poskytnúť komplexnú predstavu o múzeu skôr, ako ho navštívi. Každé predstavenie múzea sa začína stručným opisom histórie jeho vzniku a pokračuje prechádzkou po expozíciách, počas ktorej sa čitateľ dozvie veľa zaujímavostí o jednotlivých artefaktoch nachádzajúcich sa v muzeálnych zbierkach. Nechýbajú súčasné fotografie objektov múzeí a ich expozícií. Prvá publikácia obsahuje charakteristiku takmer päťdesiatky múzeí, ktoré majú celoštátnu pôsobnosť a sú v gescii štátnych inštitúcií. Najväčším múzeom a zároveň najstaršou kontinuitne pôsobiacou kultúrnou inštitúciou na Slovensku je Slovenské národné múzeum. Úplne logicky je kapitola o ňom najrozsiahlejšia. Druhú kapitolu tvorí Slovenské technické múzeum, ktoré je najväčším múzeom technického zamerania na Slovensku a je pohľadom do histórie a tradície vedy a techniky. Treťou rozsiahlou kapitolou sú celoslovenské špecializované múzeá, ktoré sú zoradené geograficky od západu na východ. For the past ten years, London-based Scala Arts & Heritage Publishers Ltd. has been publishing a series titled Director's Choice presenting the world's major museums and galleries through the eyes of their respective directors. One of the 2019 additions to this edition is a selection by Roman Musil, Director of the Gallery of West Bohemia in Pilsen, which introduces - in Czech and English versions - thirty-seven landmark works from the institution's extensive art collections. The book comprises works of art from the mid-fourteenth century to the end of the twentieth century. The Gallery of West Bohemia has thus joined an exclusive club of world institutions such as the Albertina in Vienna, the National Gallery in London, the Alte and Neue Pinakothek in Munich, the Frick Collection in New York, or the Staatliche Museen in Berlin. Jan Mulac’s photographic studio represented the top of Prague at a certain period, especially in the 1880s and 1890s, mainly for artists and avid patriots. Jan Mulac’s greatest contribution was his close collaboration with the Provisional and National Theatre, as well as with concert performers both domestic and foreign. In addition, he moved in social circles around Vojta Náprstek, the Frič family, etc. Josef Mulač consciously continued the work of his uncle and his main merit is the preservation of at least part of the many thousands of Jan Mulac’s negatives, supplemented by important negatives of his own. The book brings together several thousand negatives and positives from the collections of the National Museum, the Literary Archive of the Memorial of National Literature, the Archive of the National Theatre and other archives, museums and private collections.
