Hennetmairovy zápisky líčí řadu detailů a událostí z pohledu člověka, který měl k autorovi přístup jako málokdo jiný. Rodinné scény a humor, jímž Bernhard oplýval ve chvílích, kdy se cítil v bezpečí, jsou cenným svědectvím spisovatelova soukromého života.
