Studoval anglickou literaturu na Univerzitě Jižní Kalifornie. První povídka mu vyšla roku 1997 v časopise Genre. Vyučoval tvůrčí psaní na Oxforské univerzitě a působil jako redaktor v Daily Telegraph, Sunday Telegraph a Guardian, kam píše recenze dodnes. Celosvětovou čtenářskou popularitu mu přinesla sci-fi série Chaos, na níž navázal několika různorodými texty, které však spojuje autorův nezaměnitelný rukopis: suverénní vypravěčství, obsahová hloubka a dotyk nadpřirozena. Román Volání netvora (Slovart, 2017) napsal podle námětu zesnulé Siobhan Dowdové a obdržel za ni CILIP Carnegie Medal (cenu CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal získaly také ilustrace Volání netvora od Jima Kaye). Ness je rovněž autorem scénáře filmové adaptace příběhu, kterou režíroval Juan Antonio Bayona (horor Sirotčinec, dvě epizody první řady seriálu Penny Dreadful). Následovaly knihy Něco víc (Slovart 2017) a My ostatní tu prostě žijem (Slovart, 2016). Patrick Ness je rovněž scenáristou nového spin-off k seriálu Pán času. Jan Vondráček (* 1966) K divadlu se dostal během vojny po gymnáziu (účinkoval v Armádním uměleckém souboru). Následovalo studium na katedře alternativního a loutkového divadla DAMU, odchod s celým ročníkem do nově vzniklého Dejvického divadla, účast na mnoha festivalech, řada ocenění a vstup do souboru Divadla v Dlouhé, jehož členem je dodnes. Díky seriálu Mentalista, v němž dabuje hlavní postavu Patrika Janea, je známý i jeho hlas (Cena Františka Filipovského 2010). Filmoví a televizní diváci jej mohli zaznamenat ve filmech Pokoj v duši (2009), Lidice (2011), Příběh kmotra (2013) nebo v seriálech České století (2013), Život a doba soudce A. K. (2014) či Vraždy v kruhu (2015).
