Ota Pavel (1930 - 1973) Spisovatel a novinář Ota Pavel, původním jménem Ota Popper, se narodil v Praze jako syn obchodního cestujícího. Za války začal pracovat jako havíř. V letech 1949-56 pracoval Pavel v Československém rozhlase jako sportovní redaktor. Ota Pavel začal publikovat velice záhy, už od počátku 50. let uveřejňoval v denním tisku drobnější, převážně reportážní práce. Jeho prvním velkým literárním úspěchem byla kniha Dukla mezi mrakodrapy (1964), kterou se uvedl v žánru tzv. sportovní beletrie. Po ní následovaly soubory kratších próz a črt o našich předních i méně známých sportovcích (Plná bedna šampaňského, 1967, Pohár od Pánaboha, 1971, Syn celerového krále, 1972). Celou knížku věnoval vyprávění o Jiřím Raškovi (Pohádka o Raškovi, 1974). V únoru 1964 Ota Pavel onemocněl vážnou duševní chorobou (maniodepresivní psychóza) a byl nucen pobývat v psychiatrických ústavech a trvale se léčit. Z léčeben se vracel do zaměstnání a ke své tvůrčí práci pouze na krátká období. R. 1966 mu byl přiznán plný invalidní důchod. Přes velké zdravotní potíže Pavel i v posledních letech svého života horečně literárně tvořil. 31. 3. 1973 náhle zemřel na zástavu srdeční činnosti. Oldřich Kaiser (1955) Geniální komik patří k nejkontroverznějším hereckým osobnostem současného českého divadla a filmu. Vystudoval brněnskou konzervatoř a pražskou DAMU. Po absolutoriu nastoupil do Divadla na Vinohradech, dlouhé roky byl členem Ypsilonky, posléze člen Národního divadla. Audiokniha: Komentář k původnímu LP 1 18 1863 z roku 1976: Jednoho podzimního večera zaujatě vyprávěl Ota Pavel o své představě zaměstnání. Chtěl být převozníkem. Na břehu řeky by měl malý domek a loďku a nejvíce by ho zajímal fialový západ slunce, když je řeka klidná a potom nejrůznější typy lidí, které převáží přes řeku: nešťastníky i fantasty, kariéristy i vynálezce, milence i opuštěné. Na platu převozníka by nezáleželo, záleželo by spíše na tom, jak by lidi poznal, aby o nich mohl psát. Ota Pavel činil v životě všechno pro to, aby především poznal lidi, o kterých bude psát. Proto vyjel s Duklou do New Yorku a nosil míče a dělal pomocníka, aby mohl psát o tréninku mezi mrakodrapy. Chodil za sportovci na stadión, chodil na stavbu, jel se podívat na lety na lyžích do Jugoslávie a potom studoval Frenštát, protože ho zajímal kromě Rašky taky místní fanda lyžařství. Sám kladenský rodák, jezdil na Kladno, aby dosvědčil, jak se z chudého města havířské balady stává moderní průmyslové město. Nazývali ho snílkem, Don Quichotem a já nevím čím vším, ale ani jedno to přirovnání nesedělo. Když jsem si prohlížel světničku Kolji Ostrovského v Soči, kde okno stínil strom eukalyptu, myslel jsem na Otu Pavla. Správce Ostrovského muzea mi vyprávěl o bolestech hrdiny-spisovatele, o tisíci zlověstných hodinách, které sžíraly mladého spisovatele, ale on se nepodal: takřka v hodině smrti diktoval svůj rukopis románu. V Soči, v malé světničce s bílou, tvrdou postelí a starým psacím strojem, jsem si vybavoval naše schůzky a rozhovory s Otou Pavlem. Kdybych napsal, že Otu Pavla zajímal především člověk, byla by to fráze, protože spisovatele ani nic jiného zajímat nemůže. Když napíšu, že z běhu maratónského zajímal autora právě ten maratónec, který sice doběhl poslední, ale na obrátce maratonu vzal jídlo a pití pro svých šest dětí, je to myslím přesná charakteristika Pavlova zájmu. V kontextu české literatury se objevilo jméno novináře - spisovatele, jehož kniha "Smrt krásných srnců" bude vždycky událostí. A ta kniha poslední, ze které vám čte Jiří Sovák, to je ta "hlavní kniha života", jak říká leningradská básnířka a spisovatelka Olga Bergholcová. Pavel psal reportáže, scénáře, napsal reportážní knihu "Dukla mezi mrakodrapy" a "Plná bedna šampaňského", napsal knihu sportovních povídek "Pohár od Pánaboha" a "Syn celerového krále". O každé z nich se mnoho napsalo, diskutovalo, každá z nich přinesla inspirační zdroj, odkrytí další neznámé polohy člověka. Ota Pavel pocházel z havířské rodiny, bráchové i otec dělili duší na právo rukou a lopaty. Obdivoval se Hemingwayovi i Čapkovi, uznávál Čechova jako kronikáře srdce a společnosti, četl rád Faulknera. Miloval stručnost a věděl, že do života patří poezie. Miloval hudbu, řeku, lidi, a to i ty, kteří mu nevěřili anebo mu ubližovali. Měl rád děti a knížky. Měl rád mužnost a chytrost, a proto chválil Tarasova a sovětské hokejisty, miloval procházky Leningradem, stále snil o své řece a nejraději vyprávěl o praskajícím dřevu a krbu s ohněm, o teple, které ten krb vydává. Byl vášnivým milovníkem řeky, rozuměl rybám, protože ho nikdo na světě nepřesvědčil, že ryby nemají svoji rybí duši. V tom si byl podobný s Jozefem Krónerem. Ota Pavel ho jako herce miloval a asi ještě trochu víc mu herecky fandil právě pro to jeho bláznovství po rybách. Na rybách, při rybách a při meditování o rybí duši poznával znovu hlubiny lidského srdce. Chtěl napsat veliký sportovní román, ale nemohl se k tomu odhodlat. Psal chvatně, věřil, že musí psát každý den aspoň stránku a dokonale to plnil navzdory neúprosnému času a smrti, která na něj číhala. Byl těžce nemocen, ale svěřil se, že kdyby neviděl člověka ze dna životní propasti, neporozuměl by mu tak dokonale. Byl sportovním redaktorem v rozhlase i v novinách, nedělal rozdílu mezi novinářem a spisovatelem, protože vynikající novinář je lepší než špatný spisovatel. Audiokniha: Komentář k původnímu LP 1218 0446 z roku 1980: Já jsem Otík, řekl prostě, když jsme se poprvé potkali na půdě sportovní redakce rozhlasu někdy v padesátých létech, a podíval se na mne zvědavýma očima, pohledem, který prozrazoval člověka bezelstného, pevného. Jaký vlastně je, jaký doopravdy bude, ptal jsem se sám sebe, protože jsem vždycky spokojenější, když lidi ze svého blízkého okolí dobře znám. Měli jsme tehdy v rozhlase fotbalovou jedenáctku a Otík toužil stát se jejím hráčem. Po prvním utkání, ve kterém nastoupil, mu někdo v kabině řekl, že by nebylo na škodu, kdyby také občas do míče trkl hlavou. V příštím zápase dal Otík sedm gólů, z toho pět hlavou. Když jsme se vraceli z utkání, postěžoval si, jak ho hlava bolí, ale zářil štěstím, že to dokázal. Jednoho krásného dne mi povídá: ožením se. Bylo to poněkud překvapující. Nikde žádný náznak a najednou svatba. Vezmu si Věru. Další překvapení. Všechno jsem promyslel. Lidé kolem to nebrali vážně. Ale Otík nemluvil nikdy do větru. Později se přiznával častokrát k tomu, že nikdy nedokáže dost docenit význam toho rodinného zázemí. Bylo to šťastné manželství. Na soustředění před spartakiádou na Roztěži jsme hráli po večerech turnaj ve stolním tenisu. Narazili jsme na sebe s Otíkem už ve druhém kole. Hrál, i když zrovna často pálku v ruce nemíval. Zdálo se mi, že ho snadno porazím, protože v prvním setu udělal sotva deset míčků. Druhý jsem "pustil", ale ve třetím jsem se už nechytil a Otík svou houževnatostí vydřel vítězství. Neumím to jako ty, řekl mi po zápase, ale nemám rád, když mě někdo podceňuje. Být členem rozhlasové sportovní redakce znamená mluvit na mikrofon. Chtěli to i po Otíkovi. Pilně jezdil s magnetofonem na starou Štvanici a zkoušel při hokejových utkáních reportérské řemeslo. Jak byl vytrvalý a cílevědomý, tak byl i kritický a sebekritický. Jednou povídá: tohle není pro mne, já budu raději psát. Třeba jednou něco dokážu. Při přípravě na spartakiádu na dobříšském zámku psal Otík ve volných chvílích bajku o našich a sovětských hokejistech. Psal ji den ze dne, vždy se s námi večer dělil o to, co vymyslel, dal si říct, upravoval a opravoval, škrtal a přepisoval. Bajku psal celý týden, na konci měla pouhých dvacet řádek, ale co slovo, to perlička, co věta, to hluboká myšlenka. Potom odešel z rozhlasu a začal psát. Jako prostý, zásadový, přímý a bezelstný kluk, jehož myšlenky přežily příliš krátký životní běh, který naplnil pilnou a houževnatou prací. A protože to dokázal, je stále mezi námi. Vít Holubec Ota Pavel byl uhranut atletikou, hokejem a fotbalem, a také rybami a tatínkem. První knížka o tatínkovi a rybách vyšla roku 1971, takřka na sklonku autorova života - a znamenala literární objev let sedmdesátých. Mimo, vlastně na okraji hlavního proudu české literatury vzniklo dílko srovnatelné a leckdy převyšující jeho vrcholy. Čím Smrt krásných srnců a následující Jak jsem potkal ryby (1947) tolik zaujaly? Svým poláčkovskos-hrabalovským, lidově inspirovaným humorem, který má u nás tradici, ale nemnohé představitele? Svou bizarností, určitou výlučností námětů? Jistě tím i oním; čteme-li však tyto křehké příběhy pozorně, zjistíme, že Pavel nepíše ani tak o kaprech, štikách a úhořích či výjimečném, sympatickém jedinci, jakým jeho tatínek beze sporu byl, ale o nás všech, nebo lépe - téměř všech. O našich nadějích a zklamáních, malých radostech a velkých smutcích a naopak, o našich vítězstvích i našich prohrách. A poznáme, že tak činí s lehkostí, s jakou talentovaný a všestranně připravený skokan zdolává tu nejvyšší laťku či útočník střílí rozhodující gól. Tyhle věty by asi Otu Pavla zaskočily, protože by mu připadaly moc vznešené a on tvořil souvětí obyčejná, neefektní a také proto vždycky autenticky klidná. A všimněme si - Pavlova vyprávění nikdy nejsou mimo kontexty společenské. Tak třeba druhá povídka na této desce, příběh o největším zápase kladenského "fotbalového bombardéra" Kloce, totiž zápase o vlastní život, se odvíjí v atmosféře zbývajících válečných a prvních mírových dnů. Nebo povídka úvodní - velikost osudu Aloise Hudce roste na pozadí pohnutých událostí našich novodobých dějin. A koneckonců i z povídání "jen" o nočním lovu úhořů vycítíte v jakém čase se ta báječná rybářská noc s tatínkem odehrála... Vlastimil Brodský (uhranut divadlem i filmem) umí navodit důvěrnou atmosféru; máte pocit, jako by vám vyprávěl u vás doma, ve vašem pokoji. Jeho projev je přirozený, cudný a pokorný. Je to první setkání Brodského-interpreta s jeho milým autorem na tak velké ploše. Myslím, že je to setkání šťastné. A nejen proto, že spisovatelův svět je herci tolik blízký; že Brodský dobře zná jeho reálie, že provozoval (a dosud má rád) sport, že prožil válku, zkrátka, že tento svět je příbuzný jeho uměleckému vidění a cítění. Je tu však cosi důležitějšího, co spojuje herce se spisovatelem. Totiž: podobně jako Pavlovy povídky i Brodského herectví vyzařuje hluboké člověčenství. Takové herectví pak má tu moc vtisknout velikost i věcem na první pohled

HOW CAN WE KNOW WE’LL GO TO HEAVEN? A recent poll indicated that for every American who believes he or she is going to hell, there are 120 who believe they’re going to heaven. This optimism stands in stark contrast to Jesus Christ’s words written in the Bible: “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few” (Matthew 7:13–14). The truth is that according to the Bible we don’t automatically go to heaven. In fact, hell―not heaven―is our default destination. Unless our sin problem is solved once and for all, we can’t enter heaven. That’s the bad news. But once that’s straight in our minds we’re ready to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. Jesus took upon himself, on the cross, the hell we deserve so that we could experience for eternity the heaven we don’t deserve! THE ONLY TWO OPTIONS There are two possible destinations when we die: heaven or hell. Can we really know in advance where we’ll go? John, one of the writers of the Bible, said this: “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:13). We can know for sure that we’ll go to heaven when we die. Do you? To sin means to fall short of God’s holy standards. Sin is what ended paradise in the Garden of Eden. And all of us, like Adam and Eve, are sinners. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Sin separates us from a relationship with God (Isaiah 59:2) and it deceives us and makes us think that wrong is right and right is wrong (Proverbs 14:12). Sin has terrible consequences, but God has provided a solution: “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). Jesus Christ, the Son of God, loved us so much that he left the riches of heaven to become a man and deliver us from our sin. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). He came to identify with us in our humanity and our weakness, but he did so without being tainted by our sin, self-deception, and moral failings (Hebrews 4:15–16). Jesus died on the cross as the only one worthy to pay the penalty for our sins demanded by the holiness of God: “For our sake he [God] made him [Jesus] to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21). But in victory over death, God raised Jesus from the grave, defeating the consequences of sin (1 Corinthians 15:3–4, 54–57). When Christ died on the cross for us, he said, “It is finished” (John 19:30). In those times “It is finished” was commonly written across certificates of debt when they were canceled. It meant “Paid in full.” Christ died so that the certificate of debt consisting of all our sins could once and for all be marked “Paid in full.” THE CRITICAL DECISION Only when our sins are dealt with in Christ can we enter heaven. We cannot pay our own way. Jesus said, “No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). Because of Jesus Christ’s sacrificial death on the cross on our behalf, God freely offers us forgiveness. To be forgiven, we must recognize and repent of our sins. Forgiveness is not automatic. It’s conditioned upon confession: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). Christ offers to everyone the gifts of forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life. “Let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price” (Revelation 22:17). There’s no righteous deed we can do that will earn us a place in heaven (Titus 3:5). We come to Christ empty-handed. We can take no credit for salvation. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Ephesians 2:8–9). This gift cannot be worked for, earned, or achieved. It’s dependent solely on Christ’s generous sacrifice on our behalf. Now is the time to make things right with God. Confess your sinfulness and accept the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on your behalf. You are made for a person and a place. Jesus is the person, and heaven is the place. They are a package― they come together. You cannot get heaven without Jesus or Jesus without heaven. “Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near” (Isaiah 55:6). For all eternity you’ll be glad you did. If you understand what God has done to make forgiveness and eternal life possible for you, you may want to express it in words like these: “Dear Lord, I confess that I do not measure up to your perfec
