Tyto stránky, které kocour používal dílem jako podložku, dílem jako piják, byly nedopatřením rovněž vytištěny, a tak se ve výsledné podobě díla jakoby omylem prolínají dvě nezávislé dějové linie – satiricky vyznívající autobiografie poněkud samolibého kocoura-literáta a tajuplný příběh, přesněji řečeno fragmenty příběhu, výstředního romantického hrdiny-umělce Johanna Kreislera vystaveného všemožným protivenstvím. Životní názory kocoura Moura jsou tedy polyfonním dílem, svou výstavbou připomínajícím princip hudebního kontrapunktu. Zdánlivě nesouvisející příběhy se totiž ve skutečnosti doplňují, prostupují, jeden v druhém se zrcadlí a vzájemně osvětlují. Právě prolínání obou příběhů činí z četby tohoto „dvojrománu“ nevšední čtenářský požitek.
