Kniha o samizdatu jako životním postoji a nosné platformě kultury. 464 stran s průvodními texty Viktora Karlíka, který byl vedle Jáchyma Topola a Ivana Lampera jedním ze zakladatelů. S kalendáriem Michaela Špirita, které přibližuje dobový kontext třeba na příkladech působení Ivana M. Jirouse nebo dění kolem skupiny Psí vojáci, ale také v publicistice Rudého práva či Mladého světa. Obsáhlý svazek přináší rovněž komentovanou bibliografii všech samizdatových čísel a stovky faksimilí a fotografií, které zpřítomňují jedinečné archiválie i společenství mladých lidí, v němž Revolver Revue před rokem 1989 navzdory nemalým rizikům nejen vznikala, ale také se razantně rozvíjela. Kniha slovem i obrazem ukazuje, co obnášela především výrobní, organizační a konspirační práce v samizdatové kultuře, a to na příkladu časopisu Revolver Revue v letech 1985-1989. Základem se staly poznámky, které si výtvarník a redaktor Viktor Karlík, vedle Ivana Lampera a Jáchyma Topola jeden ze tří zakládajících vydavatelů tohoto časopisu, psal od devadesátých let, přičemž vycházel i ze svého obsáhlého archivu. Jeho svědectví o místech, kde časopis vznikal, spolupracovnících, často dodnes málo známých, způsobech konspirace, různých technologických a technických postupech, financování nebo distribuci je zprávou o tom, jak se po stránce výrobní, produkční a vizuální vyvíjela samizdatová kulturní revue, která byla postupně šířena po celé republice a do zahraničí. Na začátku ji tři příslušníci nejmladší undergroundové generace vytvářeli pomocí psacího stroje, cyklostylu a s linorytovými obálkami v nákladu 30-50 kusů. V závěrečném samizdatovém období se obsáhlá revue tiskla - ilegálně - v tiskárně ofsetem v nákladu 500 kusů, kompletovala ve speciálně vybavené podzemní dílně a redakční a externí spolupracovníky bylo možno počítat na desítky. Takový vývoj časopis dobře připravil pro dobu po pádu totality - kdy jeho náklad dosáhl 10 000 kusů - a byl zdánlivě paradoxně možný především proto, že RR vytvářeli lidé, kteří se v období "normalizace" zcela vědomě na rozdíl od většiny rozhodli pro práci v samizdatu. Ten nevnímali jako provizorní řešení, ale plnohodnotnou, v mnoha směrech profesionální paralelní vydavatelskou činnost. Širší společenský a kulturní kontext, pod jehož povrchem jejich intenzivní práce probíhala, přibližuje Michael Špirit v kolážovém kalendáriu s příklady souběžného veřejného i zakazovaného dění v kultuře Československé socialistické republiky. Ty ukazují, že navzdory řadě aktivit nejen v samizdatu a exilu, ale i v polooficiální, režimem trpěné sféře, nejevil státně stranický kulturní a vědecký aparát žádné známky nejistoty o své moci. Na jedné straně upevňoval posty kariérním komunistům, na straně druhé s velkým úspěchem korumpoval a oslaboval postoje lidí, kteří se domnívali, že vůči stranickému establishmentu stojí v jakési opozici. Obsah rozměrných samizdatových svazků RR pak v knize eviduje jejich anotovaná bibliografie, kterou sestavily Nikola Dlabajová a Gabriela Romanová. Na závěrečných textových stranách Viktor Karlík odpovídá na otázky Jeana-Gasparda Páleníčka po tom, jak probíhal přechod časopisu, který v roce vydání této knihy završil čtyřicet let nepřetržité existence, ze samizdatové éry do polistopadových dekád, a i zde dokládá, že samizdatová kultura je jedním ze základů, na němž může společnost stavět dál. Podstatnou součástí svazku je jeho obrazová rovina v redakci a grafické úpravě Josefiny Karlíkové a Konráda Karlíka. Obrazové strany přibližují podobu a styl samizdatové RR, ukazují, jak mohl samizdat i při omezených a ztížených výrobních podmínkách podzemí a konspirace vypadat, zveřejňují unikátní archiválie a připomínají také společenství, v němž tato revue vznikala.
