V závěru pojedná o snahách německé vlády celou záležitost vymazat z paměti, aby nevyšlo najevo její pochybení, a opačné úsilí pozůstalých vytrvale žádajících spravedlnost a připomínajících památku mrtvých. Při psaní autor vycházel hlavně z materiálů shromážděných pro natáčení dokumentárního filmu, oceněného Oscarem. Vyprávění dodává Reeve dramatičnost a emotivnost nejen přímými výpověďmi jednotlivých osob, ale i domýšlenými dialogy tak, že kniha působí téměř jako napínavý špionážní román. Dává hlas všem, ale vzhledem k mlčenlivosti oficiálních činitelů zaznívají přece jen nejvíce hlasy pozůstalých, a přes veškerou snahu o nezaujatost je jasné, na čí straně jsou autorovy sympatie. Kniha není jen strhujícím popisem jedné konkrétní teroristické akce, ale přerůstá v obecnou a velmi aktuální připomínku toho, jak nesnadné je vypořádat se s terorismem a jak mu média mimoděk nahrávají.
