Když vylíčí tragický konec nepovedené záchranné policejní operace, věnuje se tajným akcím izraelské vlády stíhající a vraždící palestinské pachatele. V závěru pojedná o snahách německé vlády celou záležitost vymazat z paměti, aby nevyšlo najevo její pochybení, a opačné úsilí pozůstalých vytrvale žádajících spravedlnost a připomínajících památku mrtvých. Při psaní autor vycházel hlavně z materiálů shromážděných pro natáčení dokumentárního filmu, oceněného Oscarem. Vyprávění dodává Reeve dramatičnost a emotivnost nejen přímými výpověďmi jednotlivých osob, ale i domýšlenými dialogy tak, že kniha působí téměř jako napínavý špionážní román.
