Pražské veduty provedené grafickými technikami podávají již více než pět set let průběžnou zprávu o vzhledu města, o jeho urbanistickém a architektonickém vývoji. Patří k základním pramenům práce historiků, uměnovědců a architektů. Jsou předmětem nejenom vědeckého zkoumání, ale i sběratelství a obdivu milovníků umění. Pokusy o jejich souborné zpracování probíhají již od konce 18. století. Míra zpracování souborů vedut z jednotlivých období je však rozdílná. Důvodem je téměř geometrickou řadou vzrůstající počet grafickými technikami vytvořených pohledů na město a jeho části v průběhu staletí a tím i narůstající obtíže spojené s jejich komplexním "podchycením" a zpracováním. Podrobný soupis pražských vedut ze 16. a 17. století, opřený o sbírkové fondy Muzea hl. m. Prahy, Archivu hl. m. Prahy, ale i Národního muzea v Praze, Národní galerie a Královské kanonie premonstrátů na Strahově (část byla ještě tehdy umístěna v Památníku národního písemnictví) vyšel v roce 2002. Předkládaný soupis na něj v mnohém navazuje a představuje odborné veřejnosti, ale i zájemcům o historii grafické pohledy na město z 18. století. Denárový soubor, nalezený v letních měsících roku 2015 v okolí obce Chýšť (okr. Pardubice) a odevzdaný v prosinci téhož roku do sbírek Východočeského muzea v Pardubicích, představuje uzavřený a svou početností mimořádný celek, dokumentující jedinečným způsobem českou mincovní produkci 90. let 10. století. Otevírá nám prostor pro poznání jedné z důležitých etap českého mincovnictví, o němž jsme měli dosud jen velmi sporé informace. Na základě rozboru jeho obsahu je možno podrobněji dokumentovat činnost mincoven v Praze a na Vyšehradě na sklonku vlády knížete Boleslava II. (972-999) a přesněji určit chronologické zařazení denárových typů a variant, ražených v uvedeném desetiletí. Mimořádně cenné jsou rovněž informace o proměnách technologie výroby mincí. Nálezový soubor z okolí Chýště nabízí odpovědi na otázky, kladené celými generacemi českých numismatiků. Některé odpovědi jsou očekávatelné, jiné překvapivé. Při svém rozsahu a mimořádné výpovědní hodnotě nám významným způsobem doplňuje rovněž naše znalosti o stavu české společnosti a o charakteru ekonomických procesů, probíhajících v posledním desetiletí 10. století, tedy v období předcházejícímu hluboké krizi českého státu na přelomu tisíciletí, založené dosud z velké části na výpovědi pramenů archeologické povahy a velmi omezené výpovědi pramenů písemných. Weil ve své disertaci - v souladu s proklamovaným komparatistickým zaměřením - usouvztažňuje vývoj anglického romanopisectví 18. století s vývojem díla Nikolaje Vasiljeviče Gogola. V interpretačních postupech, ve způsobu práce s konkrétními texty a ve vysoké míře citlivosti k jemným textovým nuancím se poodkrývají schopnosti, které Weil uplatnil později ve svých reportážích, v románech Moskva-hranice a Dřevěná lžíce a i v poválečných románech. Podrobným a poctivým uvažováním o Gogolově díle si Weil připravil půdu pro vlastní uměleckou tvorbu. Zpřístupnění textu Weilovy disertace tak umožňuje z nové perspektivy vnímat i Weilovo beletristické dílo.
