Today, in the age of CCTV, drones, medical body scans, and satellite images, photography is increasingly decoupled from human agency and human vision. In Nonhuman Photography, Joanna Zylinska offers a new philosophy of photography, going beyond the human-centric view to consider imaging practices from which the human is absent. Zylinska argues further that even those images produced by humans, whether artists or amateurs, entail a nonhuman, mechanical element--that is, they involve the execution of technical and cultural algorithms that shape our image-making devices as well as our viewing practices. At the same time, she notes, photography is increasingly mobilized to document the precariousness of the human habitat and tasked with helping us imagine a better tomorrow. She created something new – the genre of expression and personality in animals. Jan Šmíd je fotograf, krajinář. Je jedním ze tří Čechů, kteří jsou nositeli nejcennějšího a nejprestižnějšího fotografického titulu Master QEP (Master Qualified European Photographer udělovaný Federation of European Photographers v Bruselu). Zatím za své fotografie získal více než 200 medailí a ocenění, které pro sebe, ale zejména pro českou fotografii vybojoval na mezinárodních fotografických soutěžích. Když se řekne "fotografie", každý si představí "cvak" a hotovo. Jan Šmíd pracuje metodou skládané fotografie, kdy jeden motiv vzniká z desítek až stovek jednotlivých snímků. Díky tomu jsou jeho fotografie technicky dokonalé. Ve své tvorbě se specializuje na krajinářská panorama a snímky noční oblohy. Nyní nazrál čas, aby vydal svou knižní prvotinu. Monografie Viktor Kronbauer - Divadelní fotografie je jubilejní 700. publikací Institutu umění - Divadelního ústavu. Jde o reprezentativní knihu, jejíž hlavní vypovídací hodnotou je pochopitelně obraz - fotografie. Výběr snímků názorně a působivě představuje uměleckou cestu Viktora Kronbauera od fotografických začátků (školní práce, první kroky volné tvorby), přes období, kdy působil jako fotograf (především portrétista) v České filharmonii, až po zahraniční inscenace (se zvláštním důrazem na Pražský divadelní festival německého jazyka). Hlavní část, jež je věnovaná českým divadelním inscenacím, performancím a projektům, zachycuje cestu českého divadla od počátku osmdesátých let minulého století po současnost, s jeho stěžejními i polozapomenutými, nicméně zajímavými inscenacemi. Zastoupeno je jak Národní divadlo, Divadlo na Zábradlí, Divadlo Komedie, brněnské Divadlo Husa na provázku, tak alternativní projekty Divadla Continuo, Farmy v jeskyni či site specific realizovaná Miroslavem Bambuškem. Koncepce knihy odráží vývoj Kronbauerovy tvorby, jak z technologického, tak uměleckého hlediska. V první "černobílé" fázi své tvorby zpracovává individuálním tvůrčím způsobem vliv svého učitele Jaroslava Krejčího. Přechod na digitální barevný formát v roce 2003, v němž ne každý fotograf obstál, znamenal pro Kronbauera naopak impuls k nové etapě profesní dráhy, v níž nalézá svůj svébytný umělecký rukopis. Z tohoto zásadního technologického zvratu dokázal vytěžit maximum, jeho práce s barevnou kompozicí nemá v české divadelní fotografii obdoby. Kniha vypovídá jak o velkém, léty tříbeném, nezastupitelném talentu fotografa, tak o divadle.

Kromě hlavního textu tvoří součást knihy obsáhlý přílohový materiál, základní životopisy všech zmiňovaných fotografů, srovnávací tabulka zaměřená na historický přehled kulturních, společensko-politických a fotograficko-technických událostí v daném časovém rozsahu díla sestavená podle zemí. Indexy každého dílu jsou rozdělené na dvě části, index fotografů a index ostatních jmen a významných pojmů.

It is a parable about whirling round a core of nothingness. The photographs reveal the world of men dragged into a trap that pretends to be a game about being soldiers. Today, many years after they were first taken, these original photographs by Josef Moucha seem like ghostly dirty tricks, staged with numerous extras in expensive stage sets. In fact, they are shots taken at the start of the 1980s, an unembellished, realistic look from inside. The photographs are introduced by Vladimír Birgus, a respected photographer and expert on photography: ‘It is the complexity of Moucha's photographic diary from the army which contributes to his photographs evoking a geyser of recollections in everyone who experienced compulsory military service under Communist rule.' ‘Unique amongst Czech documentary photographs,' he remarks, ‘the set provides a many-layered view of compulsory military service in the years of the restored hard-line Communist regime, after the crushing of the Prague Spring reform movement in August 1968.
