Usilovná snaha odstranit pravdu a dobro z našich životů, jejich zařazení na seznam zdrojů nenávisti, pramení ve skutečnosti ze zášti proti člověkem nestvořenému řádu. Tato smrtonosná strategie se maskuje humanisticky vyhlížející hate-free agendou, která se skrytě napájí z neodstranitelné atraktivity těchto odvěkých kvalit lidského myšlení a jednání. Pranýřovaná pravda je v ní převlečena do těžkého hávu korektnosti a odsuzované dobro do stále přešívaného fraku dobové přijatelnosti. První interpretace poukazuje na to, že pravdu nelze úplně dosáhnout kladením si otázek, protože ty nikdy nekončí. Lidské poznání je omezené a neschopnost tuto omezenost přijmout končí pomatením. Druhá interpretace se věnuje popisu pozorování. Pozorovat znamená přejímat detaily cizích postojů a myšlenek, a tudíž se vlastnímu myšlení vyhýbat. Třetí interpretace se týká postavy vypravěče a zacházení s časovostí. O myšlení se podle této interpretace v románech nic neříká: je potřeba myslet, ne o tom mluvit. Myšlení je pohybem mezi myšlením a nemyšlením, proto je uměním. Postavou, která je s tímto myšlením spjatá, je čtenář sám.

V prvních rozhovorech je zaznamenána euforie a velká očekávání z probíhající transformace zastaralého Útvaru rozvoje města na moderní městský plánovací institut (IPR Praha) a následného "zlatého období" tvorby plánu.
