Jinak je však sebevražda tématem, o němž není snadné mluvit, a tak se o něm spíše mlčí. Literární texty, jež jsou předmětem monografie, toto mlčení prolamují. Ukazují, že suicid nemusí být chápán jen jako konec. Naopak může být mnohdy jedinou možností, jíž se člověk zpětně stává sám sebou. Rozbor literárního textu, který se zabývá touto tematikou, odhaluje čtenářům pohnutky vedoucí k suicidu a nastiňuje, jak se literární postavy definitivně potvrzují právě prostřednictvím sebevraždy. Předložená monografie nastiňuje průběh tohoto procesu. Rozbor se blíže zaměřuje na tato díla: Der Fall Franza (Případ Franza) Ingeborg Bachmannové, Wunschloses Unglück (Nežádané neštěstí) Petera Handka, Der Untergeher (Ztroskotanec) Thomase Bernharda. Die konkrete Forschungsfrage lautet: Auf welche Art und Weise wird der Suizid in den untersuchten Texten als Mittel zur Selbstkonstitution beschrieben? Um diese Frage zu beantworten, muss in einem ersten Schritt erst einmal der Suizid-Diskurs in den verschiedenen Wissenschaften skizziert werden.
