CD Album Spirituál kvintet - Zpívat se nepřestane - To nejlepší (2022) - Výběr legendárních songů přímo od zdroje. Doktor Jiří Tichota, spoluzakladatel a kapelník Spirituál kvintetu, nově nahlédl bohatý písňový odkaz. Zlákán LP formátem, po několika desítkách let pro ten účel opět využitým, vybral 28 (na CD o dvě méně) skladeb z prakticky celého nahrávacího období Spirituálu. Jemným detailem je skutečnost, že vinylová stopáž činí 85 minut, připomínajících, že stejný počet let byl doktoru Tichotovi právě dopřán. Je to poslouchání parádní, přibližující maximum z v čase proměnlivých sestav kapely. Ta vždy vynikala skvělým výběrem předloh, kompetentní instrumentací, výborně pasujícími texty a zpíváním výrazně sólovým i nezaměnitelně vícehlasým. Vnitřní obal připomíná všechny průběžné členy Spirituálu a je to sestava opravdu hvězdná. Dušan Vančura, Karel Zich, Oldřich Ortinský, bratři Nedvědové, Zdenka Tichotová nebo Irena Budweiserová a nověji Jiří Cerha, Jiří Holoubek, Veronika Součková a Pavel Peroutka spoluvytvářeli legendu našich pódií a studií, mnozí již bohužel sledují současné osudy těch písniček odkudsi shora. Snad budou také potěšeni touto kompilací, nabízející osobně vybrané jádro toho nejdůležitějšího. Vedle muziky tu najdete řadu dokumentárních fotografií a ohlédnutí Jiřího Tichoty za ukončenou existencí Spirituál kvintetu. Název ani v nejmenším nepřehání: zpívat se nepřestane. Sestava dvaceti čtyř nahrávek z let 1985-2019 představuje pokladnici velejemného zpívání. Zdenka Tichotová slaví na konci září půlkulaté narozeniny, navíc je to právě pětačtyřicet let od chvíle, kdy nastoupila do Spirituál kvintetu. To jsou dobré důvody pro připomenutí jejího skvělého podílu na kapelou rozdávané kolektivní radosti. Doktor Tichota, nikoli jako manžel, ale jako odborník na nejrůznější podoby spirituální tvorby, songy vybral a sestavil do příjemně poslouchatelného celku. Publicista Jiří Černý napsal do bookletu průvodní slovo, přesahující hudební portrét směrem k profilu ženy s v mnoha ohledech mimořádným osudem. Trampské zpívání s bratry Nedvědy v Torontu/Brontosaurech v roce 1974 společně vyměnili za pestrobarevnější Spirituál kvintet, kde ona již zůstala. Je zásadně cennou vokalistkou s nepředstíranou prostotou projevu, tak dobře padnoucího k mixu folklórních, folkových, gospelových i renesančních vlivů. Její sóla nebyla častá, ale vždy stála za to, viz třeba strhující gospel What Month Was Jesus Born In, á capella tradicionál Ty víš, jak mi lhát či na tomto CD debutující House Of The Rising Sun.
