V této drobné novele načrtává ilustrátor Beardsley tentokrát perem literáta Venušin poetický palác a zahrady, kde se krásčina divoká družina oddává bujarým radovánkám. Aubrey Beardsley začal pracovat na erotickém románu Venuše a Tannhäuser, pravděpodobně inspirovaném Wagnerovou operou Tannhäuser a souboj bardů na Wartburgu, v roce 1894. První tři neúplné kapitoly vyšly o dva roky později v prvním čísle časopisu The Savoy, a sice pod názvem Under the Hill. V celku toto dílo, jež autor ve svém krátkém životě nestihl dokončit a které mělo obsahovat i 24 celostránkových ilustrací, vyšlo poprvé až roku 1907, devět let po jeho smrti.
