České sociální vědy prošly, podobně jako jiné vědní obory, třemi exilovými vlnami - po okupaci Československa v roce 1939, po nástupu komunistického režimu v roce 1948 a po ustavení tzv. normalizace jako důsledku vojenské intervence do obrodného procesu v roce 1968.
