První monografie pavilonu ČSSR na Expo 67 vychází k příležitosti stejnojmenné výstavy v Chebu. Expo 67, specifickým formátem mezi uměním, architekturou a uměleckým řemeslem, předznamenává dnešní podobu výstavního provozu svou internacionalizací, spektakularitou, masovostí a silným ukotvením v politickém, ekonomickém a společenském pozadí. Jiří Příhoda(*1966) studoval v letech 1990-1996 na AVU v Praze, kde působil později také jako vedoucí pedagog ateliéru Itermedia II(2005 - 2015). Pracuje střídavě v Čechách a v Texasu. Jeho dílo zasahuje do mnoha výtvarných oborů a v posledních letech se pohybuje na hranici objektu a architektury. Před nástupem na AVU se věnoval akcím v přírodě, které později ustoupily zájmu o instalace. Ty zpočátku rouboval na stávající prvky interiéru, až se postupně dějištěm jeho intervencí stávaly celé místnosti a nakonec celé objekty. Dominantním motivem jeho prací byla inverze objektu a později architektury, kdy zpochybňoval na principu nekonečné Mobiovy křivky vnímání prostoru vně a uvnitř. Dnes je "stavitelem" cel a pousteven, které zamýšlí jako místa ke kontemplaci. Tyto "věže ze slonoviny" pak adaptuje na různé podmínky a prostředí, přesto je ve skutečnosti touží vidět uprostřed volné přírody. Je konstruktérem a utopickým snílkem zároveň a tak se v jeho díle snoubí moderní technologie s touhou bortit konvenční hranice oboru tak, jak se to sluší na žáka Stanislava Kolíbala a Aleše Veselého. Jiří Příhoda patří ke generaci nastupující v devadesátých letech, kdy v zahraničí vzrostl zájem o mladé české umění. Vydán byl v roce 1989 a okamžitě se dočkal obrovského úspěchu u čtenářů i u kritiků. Pojednává o machiavellistickém a bezskrupulózním politikovi Francisi Urquhartovi, jemuž přestane jeho úloha v britském parlamentu stačit a rozhodne se zamířit výš: až úplně nahoru, tedy do křesla premiéra. Přestože je to vážený a alespoň navenek slušný člověk, za svým cílem jde přes mrtvoly. Kniha se dočkala dvou pokračování a do širšího povědomí se dostala i díky dvěma seriálům. První adaptaci provedlo BBC (1990) s Ianem Richardsonem v hlavní roli. Ještě slavnější je však zpracování americké od společnosti Netflix, v němž byla hlavní role svěřena Kevinu Spaceymu. První sezóna proběhla v roce 2013 a následovalo mnoho pokračování.
