Dosti drsná, to je pravda. To, co dnes s takovým úspěchem provozuje na plátně Quentin Tarantino, Vian zvládal ve svých literárních parodiích už v padesátých letech minulého století. 'Člověk tomu neunikne' je ovšem Vianovým dílem jenom ze čtvrtiny, vycházíme-li z počtu kapitol tohoto nedokončeného románu. 15. prosince 1950 dostává Boris Vian nápad na "román Černé řady”. Napíše synopsi, čtyři kapitoly, a projekt opustí. Po více nežli šedesáti letech dali dědicové Borise Viana volnou ruku literárnímu spolku L'Oulipo, aby dopsal pokračování. Román čítá celkem šestnáct kapitol, z nichž první čtyři, nezměny, jsou Vianovy. Nedílnou součástí knihy jsou "učené vysvětlivky", které jsou již plně dílem spolku L'Oulipo a v nichž se jednotliví autoři vyřádí v brilantním intelektuálním humoru, kdy se pokoušejí vysvětlit nevysvětlitelné, nebo naopak složitě popisují zcela triviální pitomost.
