Václav Havel byl fotografován mnoha českými i světovými fotografy, o žádném z nich se však nedá říci to, co o Bohdanu Holomíčkovi: že byl Havlovým blízkým přítelem, kamarádem po sedmatřicet let - od roku 1974 až do jeho smrti. Bohdan Holomíček po celou tuto dobu Václava Havla fotografoval, zachytil ho na tisících snímků mezi stovkami lidí, v kruhu nejbližších přátel, se spisovateli, divadelníky, s manželkou Olgou, ale i s českými a světovými politiky. Album Václav přináší v bohatém výběru mnoho desítek zcela unikátních fotografií, jež nemohl pořídit nikdo jiný než Bohdan Holomíček. Nikdo z fotografů nebyl Václavu Havlovi tak blízko, nikdo ho nezachycoval po tolik let s tolika zajímavými lidmi. První z nich, Album Václav, vyšla v roce 2016 a zachycuje Václava Havla od roku 1974 až do smrti v kruhu nejbližších přátel, se spisovateli, divadelníky, s manželkou Olgou, ale i s českými a světovými politiky. Fotografie Bohdana Holomíčka jsou již po více než šedesát let intimní kronikou životů mnoha lidí, které potkal. Vyprávějí o tom, že každý člověk je jedinečný a že lidský život má smysl. Jeho snímky přinášejí do života lidí radost, touhu prožívat každý okamžik naplno, vidět krásu a inspiraci ve všední každodennosti. O tom svědčí i jeho strhující osobnost. Teoretička umění Hana Buddeus ho jednou oprávněně nazvala apoštolem lásky . Historička fotografie Anna Fárová ho charakterizovala jako fotografa přátelských setkání, zachycujícího pozitivní situace, okamžiky milosti, záblesky lásky za magického přispění světla . Historik fotografie Antonín Dufek napsal, že jeho fotografie jsou často přirovnávány k deníku, ale jak čas běží, stále víc se ukazuje, že je to spíš památník a kronika. Památník vzniká v komunikaci s ostatními a slouží také jejich paměti. V Holomíčkově případě jde o autobiografii, která se však stává i generační výpovědí; jeho snímky jsou sice subjektivní, mají ale obecnou platnost a reflektují vzpomínky celé společnosti.

Monografie Viktor Kronbauer - Divadelní fotografie je jubilejní 700. publikací Institutu umění - Divadelního ústavu. Jde o reprezentativní knihu, jejíž hlavní vypovídací hodnotou je pochopitelně obraz - fotografie. Výběr snímků názorně a působivě představuje uměleckou cestu Viktora Kronbauera od fotografických začátků (školní práce, první kroky volné tvorby), přes období, kdy působil jako fotograf (především portrétista) v České filharmonii, až po zahraniční inscenace (se zvláštním důrazem na Pražský divadelní festival německého jazyka). Hlavní část, jež je věnovaná českým divadelním inscenacím, performancím a projektům, zachycuje cestu českého divadla od počátku osmdesátých let minulého století po současnost, s jeho stěžejními i polozapomenutými, nicméně zajímavými inscenacemi. Zastoupeno je jak Národní divadlo, Divadlo na Zábradlí, Divadlo Komedie, brněnské Divadlo Husa na provázku, tak alternativní projekty Divadla Continuo, Farmy v jeskyni či site specific realizovaná Miroslavem Bambuškem. Koncepce knihy odráží vývoj Kronbauerovy tvorby, jak z technologického, tak uměleckého hlediska. V první černobílé fázi své tvorby zpracovává individuálním tvůrčím způsobem vliv svého učitele Jaroslava Krejčího. Přechod na digitální barevný formát v roce 2003, v němž ne každý fotograf obstál, znamenal pro Kronbauera naopak impuls k nové etapě profesní dráhy, v níž nalézá svůj svébytný umělecký rukopis. Z tohoto zásadního technologického zvratu dokázal vytěžit maximum, jeho práce s barevnou kompozicí nemá v české divadelní fotografii obdoby. Kniha vypovídá jak o velkém, léty tříbeném, nezastupitelném talentu fotografa, tak o divadle.

Publikace Divadlo actor-specific: Downův syndrom jako divadelní stylizace odkazuje svým názvem na jeden z možných způsobů práce s herci s Downovým syndromem: Downův syndrom nevnímá jako handicap, ale jako divadelní potenciál, z něhož je třeba vycházet, jako by to byla daná divadelní stylizace. Termín actor-specific je pak obdobou termínu site-specific: zatímco divadelní projekty site-specific se inspirují výjimečným, specifickým prostorem, divadlo actor-specific se inspiruje výjimečným, specifickým hercem. Publikace je rozdělena do dvou celků. První část je teoretická: Jsou v ní představena divadla tohoto typu v ČR i v zahraničí včetně jejich základních ideových východisek. Reflektuje vztah společnosti k lidem s postižením, a to zejména z pohledu divadla - klade si tedy otázku: Jak ovlivňuje smýšlení společnosti divadelní zprávu divadla actor-specific? In what was then part of a German-speaking empire, the Czechs devised a complex and evocative theatre language made up of allegory, allusion, juxtaposition, games, wordplay, legend, history, illusion and music. A sophisticated avant-garde theatre flowered in Czechoslovakia between the wars, and became a symbol of independence during the Nazi occupation. It survived Socialist Realism and Stalinism to blossom again in the Golden Sixties” when Prague became the theatre capital of Europe” (Kenneth Tynan) and a generation of theatre and film directors (Radok, Grossman, Schorm) and playwrights (Havel, Kundera, Topol) were at the forefront of the Prague Spring. Reprisals took place after the 1968 Soviet invasion when, under normalization,” hardline Communists tried to silence the voices of the ‘60s; thousands were forced into internal and external emigration. The theatre culture, however, flexible and experienced from previous repression, again provided a basis of opposition to totalitarianism.
