Po válce otec deník vydal, byl přeložen do mnoha jazyků a zdramatizován. Významný historik Alvin Rosenveld ve své knize The End of the Holocaust (Konec holokaustu) píše, že "prostřednictvím Anne Frankové se s obdobím nacismu nejspíš seznámilo víc lidí než prostřednictvím kterékoliv jiné dobové postavy, snad jen vyjma samotného Hitlera".
