Stále jsem se držel představy, že kdo umře, spí až do soudného dne, kdy bude souzen a následně poslán do nebe či do pekla. O zkušenosti, kterou jsem právě prožíval, se tam nikdy nemluvilo. Náhle se začaly dít podivuhodné věci. Světlo na kraji postele začalo narůstat na intenzitě. Nejprve jsem si myslel, že je to ta malá noční lampička, než jsem si všiml, že to světlo přichází zpoza nočního stolku v čele postele. Soustavně zvyšovalo svou intenzitu, až se zdálo, jako by společně zářilo milion svářeček. Vím, že kdybych se do něj díval svýma lidskýma očima namísto těch duchovních, zcela jistě bych oslepl. Pak se v jednom okamžiku udály tři věci. Něco hluboko uvnitř mě coby duchovní bytosti řeklo: „POSTAV SE. NACHÁZÍŠ SE V PŘÍTOMNOSTI BOŽÍHO SYNA.“ Náhle jsem vyskočil z postele. Ze zářivého světla v čele postele vystoupila ta nejnádhernější bytost, jakou jsem kdy poznal. Nemocniční zdi zmizely a namísto nich jsem viděl živoucí panoráma celého mého života, v němž byly do detailů zaznamenány všechny mé prožitky od císařského řezu při narození až po nedávnou smrt. Byl jsem v přítomnosti Jediného, který prohlásil: „Jsem alfa i omega, počátek i konec, kterýž jest a kterýž byl a kterýž přijíti má, Pán všemohoucí.“ Georgie Ritchie se během přípravného studia na University of Richnond ve Virginii rozhodl přerušit studia a po vzoru svého otce v době 2. světové války vstoupit do armády. Jeho cílem bylo bojovat proti německému fašismu v této válce a být nápomocen jeho porážce. V průběhu vojenské přípravy však onemocněl těžkým zápalem plic, na který nakonec zemřel. Jeho „smrt“ trvala pouhých devět minut, poté ho lékaři zachránili přímou injekcí do srdce. Co se v průběhu oněch devíti minut odehrálo, situace a dimenze, v nichž se v té krátké době ocitl, navždy změnily jeho pohled na život, a jelikož se stal lékařem (specializoval se na psychaiatrii) – pak také na jeho lékařskou profesi a na přístup k uzdravování svých pacientů. Byl to především Znovuvzkříšený Kristus, který mu poodestřel oponu zásmrtního bytí a společně s všemohoucím Bohem v něm definitivně probudili hlubokou víru v Nejvyššího a nasměrovali tak jeho veškeré počínání. Díky hlubokému vhledu, víře a netradičnímu přístupu ke svým pacientům jim skutečně pomáhal k uzdravení, a to i když byli ve zdravotně velmi těžkých situacích. Smrtelně nemocné pacienty dovedl k přijetí konečnosti pozemského bytí a zbavení se strachu ze smrti. O tom, co se během oněch devíti minut dělo, a o tom, jak na něj toto prozření zapůsobilo, vypráví ve svých knihách Návrat ze zítřka (česky 2006) a Světlo po smrti I. (česky 1995).
