This textbook is not intended to serve as an all-encompassing textbook or encyclopedia. After all, for that it would be too short in the first place. The objective here is to provide the reader with a basic introduction into the key areas of public international law, foundations upon which one can built further study. The book analyzes traditional form of responsibility applicable in proceedings before the international criminal courts and tribunals according to which commander/superior is held responsible for failure to prevent or repress crimes under international law committed by his/her subordinates.In chronological order, the book addresses controversial origins of this doctrine and relevant case-law adopted until recently before the ad hoc tribunals, the International Criminal Court and some hybrid tribunals (mostly the ECCC). The book focuses both on material and procedural aspects of the doctrine. The procedural aspects are analyzed in relation to legal framework applicable before the ICC. The book elaborates on closely watched Regulation 55 which permits change in legal characterization of facts to accord with crimes in the subject-matter jurisdiction of the Court, or with the form of responsibility envisaged in the Statute. The book explores the consistency of this rule with statutory provisions concerning prosecutorial independence and the accused person's right to fair trial and contributes to better understanding between different forms of responsibility (Article 25 and Article 28 of the ICC Statute) and different subcategories of the superior responsibility itself.Finally, the book addresses various standards of proof envisaged in the text of the Rome Statute. The Return of Agnes Przemyslide was written by Josef Tomáš between 1996 and 1999, in Melbourne, Australia, under the influence of one of his visits to Prague, where-as he himself has implied-the sight of the city evoked in him its still-living historical continuity with all the horrors and beauties of its past. The canonization of Agnes Przemyslide, also called Agnes of Bohemia, which had occurred a few years earlier (on 12 November 1989), may have served as an additional impulse towards the book's creation. The dual storyline of The Return of Agnes Przemyslide-if it is possible, in this poetic allegory, to talk about a storyline-concerns a man, and a woman who has come from abroad at the man‘s invitation. Together they walk through Prague. They are human beings of the present, but it is as if they were at the same time the Czech king Wenceslaus I and his sister Agnes, meeting each other again after many centuries. As is well known, the relationship between Agnes and Wenceslaus was very warm and Agnes was often a mentor to her brother. The man and the woman are visiting, in Prague, those places that are somehow associated with Agnes, and the woman is constantly trying to find any evidence that she, in the distant past, was indeed Agnes. The present monograph Concepts of Harmony in Five Metaphysical Poets analyses the significance of Pythagorean cosmology for the understanding the world and man in the English Renaissance. The author perceives Pythagorean cosmology as a key concept for the arts in the Renaissance, especially music and poetry. A gradual wane in the belief of the concept of a universal cosmic harmony is markedly reflected in the work of the five major "metaphysical poets" under study: Donne, Herbert, Vaughan, Marvell and Crashaw. They struggle to keep the metaphorical potency of the Pythagorean concept while stressing the process of their language experiments. However, this leads to a general metaphorization of the world: the mission of the poet shifts from interpreting universal truths about the world and the human fate in it to keeping the power of poetic language as the very instrument of such metaphorization. Vzájomná historická previazanosť skúmaných štátov sa prejavuje v ich podobnej právnohistorickej skúsenosti, čiastočne odlišnej od západoeurópskeho vývoja práva. Publikácia približuje vybrané príznaky právnych dejín spoločné štátom v tomto regióne, a to najmä v podobe pomerne neskoršej kristianizácie práva v období raného stredoveku, v podobe historickoprávnej skúsenosti s byzantským právnym vplyvom v rámci cyrilometodskej misie, ale tiež spočívajúce v zachovávaní domácich právnych tradícií s pomerne slabšou romanizáciou práva v období vrcholného stredoveku a v novoveku či v odlišnom chápaní feudálneho zriadenia v porovnaní so západnou Európou. Ďalšie spoločné znaky právnych dejín stredovýchodnej Európy predstavujú špecificky pretransformované vzory liberalizmu a západných právnych riešení v právnych dejinách 19. a 20. storočia, kedy táto časť Európy zároveň prešla rozsiahlymi premenami v dôsledku myšlienky etnického národa a národného štátu. Osobitnou spoločnou východoeurópskou skúsenosťou sú potom v 20. storočí rozsiahle zásahy do vlastníckych pomerov (pozemkové reformy, konfiškácie, znárodnenia), prudké štátoprávne premeny a viacnásobné zmeny hraníc v tejto časti Európy, či napokon doteraz badateľný vplyv sovietskych právnych vzorov. Jedinečnou je v tejto súvislosti tiež právna skúsenosť s opakovanými spoločenskými prechodmi medzi totalitou a demokraciou, v recentnom období spojená, navyše, s výzvami europeizácie a globalizácie práva. Všetky uvedené jedinečné skúsenosti spájajú štáty stredovýchodnej Európy a ovplyvňujú ich príbuznú právnu identitu a kultúru, často dostatočne nepochopenú mimo tohto regiónu. Nepochopenie a neznalosť je však tiež dôsledkom nedostatočnej prezentácie spoločných právnohistorických tradícií stredovýchodnej Európy na celoeurópskom fóre.
