Naposledy se takhle u nás rozhlasová hra vysílala v roce 1948. Retro spojení snad nejklasičtější detektivky a dřevního způsobu natáčení se zdá velmi inspirativní. A to nejen kvůli blízkosti časů zrodu, ale především obdobným potenciálem hravosti a nadhledu. „V přímém přenosu vytvoříme ve vinohradském Studiu 2 s pomocí ruchařů i přítomných diváků ulice Londýna, byt v Baker Street i restauraci, kde se Sherlock schází s dr. Watsonem. Při odhalování vraha budeme přelézat zdi, rozbíjet okna i páčit pokladny,“ slibuje režisér inscenace Vít Vencl. „Studio 2 ještě živé vysílání her pamatuje, vlastně pro ně tenkrát bylo i zkonstruováno,“ vysvětluje Vít Vencl. Kromě herců, ruchařů a smyčcového kvarteta se ve studiu našlo místo i pro několik diváků, kteří se v určitých částech hry stávali její součástí. Vytvořil postavy geniálního detektiva Sherlocka Holmese, udivujícího brilántní dedukcí i hrou na housle, a jeho přítele, spolupracovníka a obdivovatele dr. Watsona.
