Based on period documents and photography, the book maps in detail the development of Czech non-university sciences from the 18th century when the Society of Unknown Scholars in the Austrian Lands was founded in Olomouc. The main attention is focused on the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and its most important precursors, whether the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, active in 1953-1992, or earlier institutions, such as the Czech Academy of Sciences and Arts (originally the Emperor Franz Joseph Czech Academy for Sciences, Literature and Arts), founded in 1890, or the Royal Bohemian Society of Learning, which existed already from the 18th century. Anglicky psaná monografie se zabývá církevně slovanskými překlady novozákonního apokryfu "Otázky Bartolomějovy". Text byl napsán ve 3. st. řecky, avšak zvláštního rozšíření se dočkal ve slovanském prostředí (je dochováno 6 slovanských rukopisů). Cílem knihy je zhodnotit jeho místo v kontextu staroslověnských a církevně slovanských památek. Filologický rozbor jednotlivých verzí je doplněn edicí všech zachovaných slovanských rukopisů, synoptickými tabulkami a podrobnými indexy verborum. Martin Vongrej (1986) v současnosti reprezentuje patrně nejstrukturovanější podobu vizuální tvorby na Slovensku. Ve svých dílech se snaží obsáhnout liminální prostor mezi myšlenkovou spekulací a konceptuálně-minimalistickou estetikou; kombinuje vizualitu se subjektivně pojatou filozofickou rovinou. Klíčovou součástí jeho uměleckých výzkumů je zejména vztah mezi viditelným a neviditelným, který autor označuje rovněž jako „vnořování se do nitra virtuálního bodu". Tento virtuální (neviditelný) bod Vongrej nachází v přírodě (například v pomyslném středu letokruhů stromu), v geometrických objektech (torus, Möbiova páska) a také v lineární perspektivní konstrukci (úběžník jako virtuální bod průniku sbíhavých linií). Malířské a kreslířské dílo Vlasty Vostřebalové Fischerové (1898-1963) bylo omezeno necelými dvaceti lety aktivní tvůrčí činnosti, ale na české meziválečné scéně patřilo k nejosobitějším projevům "nových realismů". Autorka vycházela z epické dramatičnosti wolkerovské linie proletářského umění a s velkou dávkou fantazie a bizarní poetiky zachycovala lidské odcizení a mezní situace moderního života. V jejím díle se mísí všednodenní náměty s fantaskní poetikou a palčivou groteskností. Sociální apel mnoha jejích prací na druhé straně vyvažuje intimita. Na zvnitřnělé, místy až halucinační dimenzi její práce se podepsal i soukromý život: krátké, avšak nepříliš šťastné manželství s významným českým literátem a překladatelem Otokarem Fischerem. Kromě obrazů a kreseb kniha zpřístupňuje autorčinu rozsáhlou korespondenci adresovanou Fischerovi a věnuje se i dosud neprobádané práci Vlasty Vostřebalové Fischerové na poli architektury. Antologie Jak odlesk měsíce v jezeře. Česká teorie a kritika umění v genderových souvislostech, 1865-1945 se věnuje roli genderu v české umělecké teorii a kritice od druhé poloviny 19. století do konce druhé světové války. Mapuje dobu, kdy se v českých zemích postupně rodila a vyvíjela ženská emancipace a kdy se otázkám spjatým s rolí žen a mužů, resp. ženskosti a mužskosti ve společnosti, kultuře a umění mezi kritiky, literáty a badateli věnovalo stále více pozornosti. Těžištěm práce jsou texty (recenze, eseje, úvahy, katalogové texty či polemiky) z pera dobových publicistek a publicistů, které se zaměřují na sféru výtvarné kultury a které byly publikovány v denících, časopisech a jiných periodikách, případně ve sbornících nebo výstavních katalozích. Ačkoli antologie akcentuje právě výtvarné umění, ne všechny zastoupené autorky a autoři pocházejí z řad českých výtvarných kritiků nebo uměnovědců. Do antologie jsou začleněny rovněž texty žen a mužů činných v oblastech literatury, literární kritiky, estetiky nebo filosofie a v jejichž názorech rezonují širší problémy umění a kultury.
