Osmé dosud neznámé dílo historika a milovníka Prahy Antonína Novotného, jehož "staropražské špalíčky" byly ve čtyřicátých letech možná vůbec nejpopulárnějšími tehdejšími pragenziemi a v následujícím více než půlstoletí stále patřily a dodnes patří k antikvárním bestsellerům.Také dílo Zle, matičko zle čili Praha 1741-1757 bylo dopsáno již s autorovým vědomím, že patrně nikdy nebude vydáno, protože rigidní socialistická nakladatelství o nesocialistického historika - pragenzistu neměla zájem.Dosud neznámý Novotného "špalíček" tvoří dvě samostatné knihy: první popisuje především děje v době vlády Marie Terezie v Čechách a zejména válečné střety kolem Prahy oné doby a druhá si všímá všedního života jednotlivých skupin tehdejších Pražanů od řemeslníků až po měšťany.Pro obsáhlost nemohly být obě knihy vměstnány do jediného svazku a tudíž vycházejí odděleně a postupně.
