Se smutkem reportoval o rozpadu Československa, aby posléze na euforické vlně invaze tisíců mladých cizinců, které přivábila Praha coby „Paříž“ 90. let, vítal ve svém knihkupectví Ludvíka Vaculíka nebo Allena Ginsberga. Podivuhodná doba, kdy „bylo cokoliv možné“, zrodila jedinečné zážitky – ty zvlášť vyniknou v podání skvělého vypravěče, jímž Mark Baker bezesporu je.
