Během více jak dvou let bylo jedenáct vražd, a pět z nich nese charakteristické rysy jednoho pachatele - jak dnes říkáme - "sériového vraha". Podívejme se na vraždy současnou kriminalistickou vědou zaměřenou na profilování zločinu, oběti, místa činu i pachatele. Anglický z dynastie Yorků a Richard ze Shrewsbury, 1. vévoda z Yorku, byli synové Edwarda IV. Plantageneta, zakladatele Yorkské dynastie. Současně byli legitimními následníky trůnu v prvním pořadí, kterého se však zmocnil jejich strýc Richard, který vládl jako Richard III. Anglický. Oba chlapci, třináctiletý a desítiletý, byli internováni v londýnském Toweru. Ten ovšem nebyl tehdy vězením, byla to prostě jedna z královských rezidencí, navíc dosti důležitá, protože z ní vycházely korunovační průvody. Aby si Richard třetí zajistil korunu pro sebe a své potomky, prosadil v parlamentu zákon nazvaný Titulus Regius, který prohlásil chlapce za nelegitimní dědice. Brzy po vyhlášení zákona však chlapci zmizeli. V roce 1674 byly pod jedním ze schodišť Toweru objeveny dvě dětské kostry. Byly to však pozůstatky Edwarda a Richarda? Kostry byly uloženy ve Wesminterském opatství. Když byů hrob zkoumán v roce 1933, byla nalezena jen jedna dětská kostra a s ní několik kostí zvířecích kostí. Za hlavního padoucha byl v době vlády Tudorovců, Jindřicha VII. a Jindřicha VIII., označen, jak také jinak, jejich předchůdce Richard III., jenž byl z konkurenčního rodu Yorků. Zalsoužil se o to politik Thomas More, pozdější lord-kancléř krále Jindřicha VIII.. A později celá plejáda historiků, spisovatelů a dramatiků, nejvýznamnějšího z nich, Williama Shakespeara nevyjímaje.
