V roce 1970 došlo v Hradci Králové k hromadnému nálezu denárů z přelomu 10. a 11. století. Do numismatické sbírky Muzea východních Čech se dostala jen jeho část - 413 mincí. Přestože se jednalo o mimořádně důležitý zdroj informací k dějinám raného českého státu, zůstávala výpověď tohoto pramene historikům dlouhá desetiletí skryta. Na přelomu 20. a 21. století se PhDr. Jarmile Háskové, CSc. podařilo detailně prozkoumat, popsat a vyhodnotit nález denárů jako celek. Její dílo zůstalo kvůli předčasnému úmrtí autorky pouze v neúplně dochovaném rukopise. Vzhledem k faktu, že se jedná o precizní analýzu mincí denárového období a zároveň o ucelený výklad sdělení cenného nálezu v kontextu historických i archeologických poznatků dějin raného českého státu, vychází práce Jarmily Háskové alespoň v tomto editorském vydání. Publikace je rozdělena do dvou základních částí. Jsou to jednak dvě úvodní historicko-numismatické studie a závěr, jednak popis mincí v katalogu. První kapitola pojednává jak o peněžním vývoji raného středověku, tak o pozici severovýchodních Čech a Hradce Králové na počátku českého státu.
