Blakeův mytologický systém je nám dnes stejně vzdálený jako mytologie antická, stejně jako ona přestal být skutečností teologickou a stal se faktem uměleckým. Jeho dílo zůstává živé těmi umělecky silnými hodnotami, k nimž jej jeho mystický názor podněcoval: odvahou přemýšlet samostatně o dogmatu, konkrétním a přitom filozofickým básnickým viděním a lidským zaujetím umělce, pro něhož příroda je mrtvá, není-li v ní člověk. Blake ovlivnil i mnohé umělce 20. století.
