Na rozdíl od ostatních letovisek, nacházejících se dnes kolem přehradního jezera, zmizela osada Moráň i se svým jménem. Na její existenci si v současnosti vzpomenou již jen opravdoví místní pamětníci. Mladší generace a návštěvníci chatových osad a letovisek již v drtivé většině ani netuší, že kdy nějaká Moráň vůbec existovala. Hlavním důvodem vzniku publikace Moráň - zaniklá ves při Vltavě byla snaha připomenout tuto zaniklou osadu a navrátit ji zpět do povědomí nejen obyvatel Povltaví, ale i širší veřejnosti. Od roku 1954, kdy osada nenávratně zmizela pod hladinou Vltavy, název Moráň vymizel postupně jak z map, tak i z povědomí lidí.
