V případě českého abstraktního umění šedesátých let to byla knižní obálka. Abstraktní knižní obálky vytvářeli z velké většiny malíři a sochaři, kteří patřili svými obrazy, plastikami a objekty k neoficiální umělecké elitě. Šlo sice o díla formátem malá, ale významná již tím, že v nich byl stejný výraz, identické tvarosloví a obdobná barevnost, jakými vynikala i jejich volná tvorba. Publikace se kriticky zaobírá souběžně se vyvíjejícími médii: knihou, obrazem, fotografií, plastikou a objektem. Všechny důležité a v té době nové umělecké směry, jako český informel, konstruktivní tendence, nová citlivost, op-art, kinetismus či lettrismus, byly bází, na níž rostlo široké spektrum tehdy současného progresivního umění. A to přestože byla společně s Vladimírem Boudníkem první, kdo se abstrakci v Československu věnoval a to v době, kdy nesměla být vytvářena a už vůbec ne vystavena. Přitom byla v abstrakci zralejší než byl tehdy Boudník. Navíc byla žena, což znamenalo její přehlížení ze strany mužů ať už z řady umělců, kritiků či dokonce přátel. Nadto si netroufala se ať už jakýmkoli způsobem prosazovat. Vzhledem k tomu, že její inspirace pocházela z přírody, pracovala s barvou, která byla tehdy mladými výtvarníky zavrhována. Dnes patří k nejprofilovanějším umělkyním svého věku a to přesto, že je ještě stále známá jen publiku, které chápe a obdivuje abstraktní umění, až už bylo vytvořeno kdekoli. V západní Evropě byl každý umělec, který se věnoval v padesátých letech abstrakci, ceněn a je dnes již známý, pokud ovšem šlo o ženu, tak ta bývá považována všude za kunsthistorický poklad, který je náležitě hodnocen, vystavován a celebrován. Ludmila Padrtová se umění věnovala v padesátých letech a pak už jen těch několik málo let před její smrtí, v první polovině desátých let jednadvacátého století. Je tu ...
