Nyní, přestože je šivejsko-čínský bilingvismus velmi rozšířen, počet šivejsky mluvících, včetně mladých lidí, je stále ještě značně vysoký. Předkládaný popis gramatického fungování dvou hlavních slovních druhů – skloňování podstatných jmen a časování sloves – je dokumentován na příkladech a vzorových textech a poskytuje základní obecné informace o šivejštině a jejích mluvčích.
