Ján Beňo (nar. 1933), renomovaný prozaik, autor vyše desiatky románov, v ktorých stvárňoval výrazné charaktery s tradičnými koreňmi humanity, mravných zákonov i empatie protikladných k prispôsobivým sebcom (diela Alej lásky, Druhý semester, Predposledný odpočinok, Vyberanie hniezda) kontinuitne pokračuje aj po roku 1989. Jan Gabriel ovšem zásadně přepodstatňuje vlivy a výrazové postupy jmenovaných autorů, a skládá cosi jako neotřele imaginativní puzzle vlastního vidění a výrazu, jenž je v posledku, ve svém celku - a to není paradox - strukturován a konfigurován osobitě. Lze říci, že je to především výrazná pocitovost, cosi, co bychom označili jako jakýsi imaginativní impresionismus, který tvoří nejviditelnější silokřivky jeho skladebného úsilí.
