Jako málokterý autor dokázal Anton Pavlovič Čechov zachytit ubíjející všednost, která pomalu, ale neúprosně drtí životy jeho postav. Platí to i pro sourozence Prozorovovy z dramatu Tři sestry. V roce 1960 vznikla v Československém rozhlase inscenace, kterou natočil režisér Miloslav Jareš. Text pro rozhlas upravil Josef Bezdíček, využil k tomu méně uváděný překlad básníka Ladislava Fikara. Klasická inscenace Miloslava Jareše se výchozí divadelní text se snaží tlumočit co nejvěrněji a v plném rozsahu, opírá se při tom především o herecké výkony, z nichž připomeňme například Marii Vášovou (Olga), Marii Glázrovou (Máša), Violu Zinkovou (Irina) nebo Ladislava Boháče (Veršinin).
