Andyho družstvo měsíc bránilo pozici v bunkru na Siegfriedově linii proti opakovaným německým útokům a po kapitulaci Cách si probojovávalo cestu Hürtgenským lesem, aby obsadilo Kótu 232. 19. listopadu brzy ráno se Andy zúčastnil své nejtěžší bitvy za války, když se Němci pokusili znovu získat Kótu 232. Andy utrpěl zranění ramene. Po operaci a měsíční rekonvalescenci se znovu vrátil k rotě H, aby bojoval v Bitvě v Ardenách. Jeho jednotka se pak podílela na rychlém tažení od řeky Rour k Rýnu a potom se tato bitva rozšířila na předmostí u Remagenu. Při průlomu z předmostí narazilo jeho družstvo na německou tankovou jednotku a Andy jen těsně unikl smrti.
