Nešlo opominout pravděpodobně největšího klasika filosofie naděje Ernsta Blocha, jehož hlavní dílo Princip naděje zavazuje k tomu věnovat mu pozornost a představuje patrně centrální pasáž knihy, jež si předsevzala pouze přivádět k zamyšlení nad tím, co pro nás dnes ještě znamená doufat.

DVD film Jak básníci neztrácejí naději [2003]. Český film. Dolby Digital. Lékař záchranky Štěpán Šafránek hledá naději v lásce i práci. Dokáže najít štěstí dřív, než bude pozdě? Štěpán Šafránek (Pavel Kříž) nastupuje jako lékař do rychlé záchranné služby, kde v dispečinku kraluje jeho bývalá sestřička Tonička. Vzápětí mu umírá maminka a aby těch katastrof nebylo dost, postihne Štěpána živelná pohroma - nastěhuje se k němu Kendy (David Matásek), kterému se rozpadlo manželství. Ani vztah s Ute není dokonalý. Nová lékárnice Anička, ale má pocit, že musí Štěpánovi pomoci - a tak začíná nový vztah ... Štěpán se příhlásí na konkurs ředitele do místní nemocnice a vyhraje. Jeho iluze a poctivé úsilí zachránit nemocnici, naráží na zkorumpovanou síť podvodníků ... Štěpán rezignuje na tuto funkci a vrací se k práci, která má smysl a dává NADĚJI - k záchrance. Mezitím dochází k definitivnímu rozchodu s Ute, ale najednou i Anička, vinou nedorozumění, zmizí ze Štěpánova života ... Štěpán se rozhodne ji stůj co stůj najít - kde však BÁSNÍCI potkávají NADĚJI?
