Dickens se začal zajímat o děti, které prožívají podobné dětství jako on, bez domova a rodiny, odkázáni sami na sebe. Účastnil se také dobročinných akcí. Jeho tvorbu ovlivnil vztah k otci a k matce. Otce miloval, ale matku příliš v lásce neměl. Patníctiletý Dickens se stal advokátním písařem a poté soudním zapisovatelem. Od roku 1831 pracoval jako novinář a parlamentní zpravodaj. Novinařině se věnoval celý svůj život. Miloval také divadlo, rád by stal hercem, ale neměl cit pro drama. Luboš Veselý (1961) Herec Luboš Veselý prošel řadou divadelních scén. Na filmovém plátně se poprvé objevil ve známém snímku Jiřího Svobody Skalpel, prosím. Mohli jsme ho vidět i v televizní komedii režiséra Rudolfa Tesáčka Houpací křeslo, kde hrál po boku Jiřího Kodeta a Miroslava Donutila. Luboš Veselý se objevil v televizních seriálech Dobrodružství kriminalistiky, Světla pasáže, Případy prvního oddělení, První republika, Cukrárna, Život na zámku či Ulice.
