Únos jeho sedmileté kmotřenky mu teď všechny ty bolestné okamžiky připomněl. Když se na internetu objeví fotky Nathalie s rouškou, je jasné, že únos míří proti její matce Ewě Tanguyové, šéfce švédské bezpečnostní policie. Někdo usiluje o to, aby její dcera konvertovala na islám. Po vlažné reakci švédských nejvyšších kruhů je Hamilton nucen jednat sám. S pomocí své arabské přítelkyně Mouny se mu podaří únosce vypátrat. Nathalii dal unést bohatý saúdský ropný magnát, který chce západnímu světu uštědřit lekci v přesvědčení, že ho jeho ropné bohatství ochrání před mezinárodním zásahem. Nepočítal však s agentem Hamiltonem. Ten se svými oddanými přáteli plánuje smrtící misi namířenou proti Arabově pouštní pevnosti. V roce 1908 Edith Durhamová takřka samotná (pouze se svým věrným albánským průvodcem) procházela křížem krážem skrze izolované, málo zmapované a v dané době často démonizované území severoalbánských horských kmenů. To ve své době představovalo jedno z posledních celistvých osídlení v Evropě, kde stále vládlo nepsané zvykové právo. Mary Edith Durhamová (1863-1944) byla anglickou umělkyní a především antropoložkou a cestovatelkou, která během své více než 40 let trvající kariéry barvitě popsala řadu aspektů života různých skupin obyvatel žijících na Balkánském poloostrově (především Albánců a Srbů). Její stěžejní práce se týkaly společnosti, kultury a historie horských kmenů žijících na území dnešní severní Albánie, Kosova a Černé Hory. Životní dráha Durhamové a její úspěchy se zároveň staly inspirací pro řadu dalších cestovatelů a antropologů, kteří se v daném regionu později pohybovali.
