Osudy dobrého vojáka Švejka (1930) O popularitě Haškova románu Osudy dobrého vojáka Švejka za světové války svědčí fakt, že okamžitě po svém vydání byl adaptován pro divadlo. Hlavní postavu Josefa Švejka hrál Karel Noll – tuto volbu požehnal i samotný Jaroslav Hašek. Když se pak Karel Lamač rozhodl režírovat první film o Švejkovi, nemusel dlouho přemýšlet a opět sáhl po osvědčeném čtyřicátníkovi s dobráckou kulatou tváří. A tak v roce 1926 vznikly hned tři němé filmy - Dobrý voják Švejk, Švejk na frontě a Švejk v ruském zajetí, které se setkaly s mimořádným diváckým úspěchem nejen u nás, ale i za hranicemi. Filmy však byly zdlouhavé a hojně prokládané opsanými pasážemi knihy, proto byl v roce 1930 Martin Frič požádán, aby je upravil. Z nejlepších scén byl sestaven střihový snímek Osudy dobrého vojáka Švejka, který byl dodatečně ozvučen a který máte možnost vidět na tomto DVD. Dobrý voják Švejk (1931) Rok poté vytvořil Martin Frič první zvukovou adaptaci Haškova románu, snímek Dobrý voják Švejk. To už však byl Karel Noll po smrti; do hlavní role byl obsazen Saša Rašilov. Film však nebyl příliš úspěšný a zklamal diváky i dobovou kritiku. Tento snímek se nedochoval kompletní, jeho torzo má zhruba dvoutřetinovou délku a místy chybí obraz či zvuk. V 50. letech 20. století byl doplněn mezititulky popisujícími chybějící děj; přesto např. scény Hugo Haase v roli Katze jsou ozdobou počátků českého zvukového filmu.
