Celosvětovou čtenářskou popularitu mu přinesla sci-fi série Chaos, na níž navázal několika různorodými texty, které však spojuje autorův nezaměnitelný rukopis: suverénní vypravěčství, obsahová hloubka a dotyk nadpřirozena. Román Volání netvora (Slovart, 2017) napsal podle námětu zesnulé Siobhan Dowdové a obdržel za ni CILIP Carnegie Medal (cenu CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal získaly také ilustrace Volání netvora od Jima Kaye).
