V knize, která je jakousi disputací, někdy polemickou, ale místy i uznalou (Karel Marx se v mnohém mýlil, v něčem měl však i pravdu, to z jeho textu vyplývá), zabývá se situací ekonomickou (rozvírajícími se nůžkami mezi bohatými a těmi ostatními, a to v celosvětovém měřítku, situací citovou, rozumovou, stavem víry a jejími vlivy i nevlivy na soudobý život - a v úhrnu a ve výsledku horuje pro návrat etiky a morálky do dnešního světa, protože HDP, rozpočty a další ukazatele na zlepšování kvality života současného člověka zdaleka nestačí, ba absence mravnosti může i při zlepšování ekonomických statistik stejně vést ke katastrofě. Arcibiskup Marx je téměř polyhistor, znale cituje a hodnotí filosofy, ekonomy, politiky, spisovatele atd. Mimochodem cituje i z textů (von Hayeka, A.
