Základní téma vzpoury bláznů zpracoval každopádně Šmeljov po svém a originálně. Poprvé byla tato povídka vydána v Berlíně v roce 1923 a dočkala se svého vydání v ruském jazyce i v Praze v nakladatelství Plamja v roce 1925.
