Following on from an earlier monograph, ‘Mark Lewis: Films 1995-2000’, this publication documents a more recent series of film works produced by the artist since 2000, which continue his evocative reflections upon the cinematic history of medium.Extensively illustrated and featuring essays by Steven Bode, David Turnbull and Jean-Pierre Rehm, the book was published to accompany two large-scale exhibitions of Lewis’s work that took place at MOMA, Oxford in 2001 and at Villa Arson in Nice in 2001/2002.

Obraz proměny řeckého světa a myšlení mezi 12. a 5. stol. př. Kr., mezi zánikem mykénské palácové civilizace a vznikem klasické řecké polis. Druhé opravené vydání. Vernant, Jean-Pierr (*1914) je jedním z nejoriginálnějších hellénistů poválečné Francie. Platí o něm v plné míře, co sám napsal o svém předchůdci a učiteli Louisi Gernetovi: že přispěl k obnově řeckých studií ve Francii. Ve svých pracích, věnovaných zejména starořeckému náboženskému myšlení, navázal na tradici francouzské historické psychologie a sociologie. Na půdě klasických studií tak vydobyl domovské právo oboru, který nazýval "historickou antropologií starého Řecka". Počátky řeckého myšlení (1962) patří dnes již ke klasickým knihám. Vyšly nedlouho po rozluštění mykénského písma a načrtly smělý, plastický a přesvědčivý obraz proměny řeckého světa a řeckého myšlení mezi XII. a V. stoletím př. Kr. - mezi zánikem mykénské palácové civilizace a vznikem klasické řecké polis . Jako učitel působil Jean-Pierre Vernant naposledy na College de France, jehož je emeritním profesorem. Znám je nicméně i u nás, neboť několikrát navštívil Československo.
