ANDRÉ BRETON (1896-1966), básník a esejista, je znám zejména jako zakladatel, teoretik a ústřední osobnost surrealistického hnutí, které přineslo nové paradigma estetiky. Začátky jeho tvorby jsou ovlivněny francouzským symbolismem; roku 1919 se připojil k dadaistickému hnutí, s nímž se však po názorových střetech s Tzarou roku 1922 definitivně rozešel. V roce 1924 se svými přáteli Louisem Aragonem, Paulem Éluardem a Benjaminem Péretem oficiálně ustavuje surrealistickou skupinu a publikuje Manifest surrealismu (Manifeste du surréalisme), dílo, vymezující umělecký surrealismus jako čirý psychický automatismus, jenž má zachytit pohyb myšlení bez ovlivnění racionální logikou, morálkou či estetikou (zde je patrné Bretonovo ovlivnění Freudem). Kolem roku 1925 se Breton začíná ideově sbližovat s komunismem a v roce 1927 vstupuje (stejně jako např. Aragon či Éluard) do komunistické strany, z níž byl pro své antistalinistické postoje v roce 1933 vyloučen. V tomto období se postoje surrealistů diferencují; spory v rámci skupiny vedly Bretona k napsání Druhého manifestu surrealismu (Second manifeste du surréalisme, 1930), v němž k teorii umění přibývá politický rozměr. Za druhé světové války prchá Breton do Ameriky, kde roku 1942 píše Prolegomena k Třetímu manifestu surrealismu anebo ne (Prolegomenes a un troisieme manifeste du suréalisme ou non). Přítomný svazek Manifesty surrealismu přináší českému čtenáři překlad bretonovské antologie Jeana-Jacquese Pauverta z roku 1962. Kromě manifestů samotných zde nalezneme například soubor esejů a přednášek Politická pozice surrealismu (Position politique du surréalisme), ilustrující Bretonův kritický postoj k sovětskému režimu a obsahující také dva referáty, proslovené v Praze, kam jej roku 1935 pozval zakladatel Skupiny surrealistů v ČSR Vítězslav Nezval. Součástí tohoto vydání je i "příloha" prvního vydání Manifestu - automatický text Rozpustná ryba (Poisson soluble, 1924), ukázka umělecké realizace Bretonova novátorského konceptu.

Stejně si vedl i její druhý detektivní román „Studený led". Jiří Dvořák (1967) Úspěšně vystudoval herectví na Janáčkově akademii múzických umění a vzápětí získal angažmá v Městském divadle v Brně. V roce 1999 dostal nabídku působit v pražském Divadle na Vinohradech, jehož předním členem je dodnes. Je známý spíše z televizních filmů a inscenací, jako POKOJ BEZ OKEN, VŮNĚ VANILKY, BROUK V HLAVĚ a znamenitá detektivka v režii Jiřího Stracha VYVRAŽDENÍ RODINY GREENŮ. Ve filmu ANDĚL PÁNĚ, ztvárnil čerta Uriáše, který provází anděla Petronela. Co se seriálů týče, mohli jsme ho vidět v Pojišťovně štěstí nebo Světlech pasáže. Lukáš Hlavica (* 1965) Je absolventem herectví na pražské DAMU, kde posledních dvacet let působí jako pedagog. Kromě herectví a výuky se úspěšně věnuje divadelní i rozhlasové režii. Dlouhodobě spolupracuje s Českým rozhlasem, působil v Národním divadle i v Divadle na Vinohradech, poté na čtyři roky zakotvil jako režisér v Dejvickém divadle (jeho inscenace Bratři Karamazovi se hrála bezmála 15 let).

Schmitt značně narušuje stereotypní představu francouzského intelektuála, jenž v postmoderní sebestřednosti autonomní říše slov a jazyka "zaměňuje sémantiku za syntax" s neblahými následky hraniční destrukce smyslu. A protože tento autor je zároveň významným básníkem, jeho analytický jazyk je kontaminován ataky imaginace, umožňujícími mu empatický vhled do světa sourodých autorských individualit.
