Kniha toužení je však sbírkou básní a dodejme tedy k seznamu Cohenových profesí, že je básník, a to básník v Čechách nikoliv neznámý (sbírky Smrt muže, který patřil jedné ženě, Výbor z poezie, Květiny pro Hitlera...).
