Třetím svazkem pětidílného českého vydání všech povídek legendárního amerického spisovatele je sbírka Katedrála, Carverova kniha nejuznávanější, a to nejen díky slavné titulní povídce. Autor se v této sbírce z roku 1983 vymanil z vlivu svého redaktora a vymínil si, že se redakční zásahy mohou týkat jen interpunkce. Toto je tedy Carver "nezkreslený vnějšími vlivy". Doslov k českému vydání dodala Tess Gallagherová, druhá Carverova žena, která "byla přitom".

Zachovala se korespondence obou pánu, ze které vyplývá, že se Carver velmi snažil své dílo uhájit, ale nebylo mu to nic platné: Lish mu z některých povídek vyhodil čtyři pětiny textu. Carver (1938-1988) ještě za svého života některé původní verze vydal, ale v úplnosti nyní "přepsané" povídky vycházejí poprvé.
