Tento žák Josefa Kaplického za téměř sedmdesát let soustavné práce vytvořil pozoruhodné dílo, které dříve či později nebude moci být přehlédnuto. František Janula prožil a dosud žije bohatý život pokud jde o prostředí, ve kterých se pohyboval i pokud jde o osobnosti, se kterými se setkal. Jeho učiteli byli mmj. Emil Filla, Jan Bauch, František Tichý. Od přelomu padesátých a šedesátých let vystavoval v Čechách a poté, kdy odešel z víceméně zajištěného postavení, uskutečnil přes sto výstav v Evropě, především ve Francii. Byl prvním z výtvarníků, který měl kdysi ateliér na Novém Světě a zažil ještě i konec pařížské bohémy. Stýkal se s Josefem Šímou a s tehdejší výtvarnou i literární pařížskou elitou. Působil v Galerii ABCD jako generačně mladší kolega takových umělců, jako Hans Hartung, Pierre Soulages, César Baldaccini, Vieira da Silva, Ladislav Kijno a další. V roce 1973 vystavoval ve Studiu Paul Facchetti. K jeho přátelům patřili básníci Michel de Smet a Jean Luc Sigaux a dodnes patří Jean Orizet a Francois Lescun.
