Je rovněž autorem mnoha románů a povídek a také scénářů – například k televizním seriálům Nikdykde (1996), na základě kterého pak vyšla i stejnojmenná kniha, a Pán času (Doctor Who). Jeho pohádky Hvězdný prach (1999) a Koralína (2002) byly zfilmovány, první jmenovaný s předními hollywoodskými hvězdami v hlavních rolích, druhý získal animovanou podobu. Na základě románu Američtí bohové (2001) o střetu starých a novodobých bohů byl v roce 2017 natočen úspěšný televizní seriál. V roce 1997 vznikl ze spolupráce s Terrym Pratchettem humoristický román o Armageddonu Dobrá znamení, podle něhož v současné době vzniká televizní minisérie s Michaelem Sheenem a Davidem Tennantem v hlavních rolích. Pavel Soukup Vystudoval žurnalistiku na Univerzitě Karlově a poté úspěšně absolvoval DAMU. Po studiu působil v oblastních divadlech, později se vrátil do Prahy, kde hrál v Městských divadlech pražských, především v Divadle ABC, a stal se členem souboru Hudebního divadla v Karlíně. Dobře známý je z televizních obrazovek – od roku 1980 se objevuje v televizních pohádkách, komediích a také v seriálech (např. Náhrdelník, Život na zámku, Ordinace v růžové zahradě). Daleko známější je ovšem jeho hlas – jednak díky mnoha dokumentům, k nimž namluvil komentář, a jednak jako dabér Arnolda Schwarzeneggera, Robina Williamse, Gérarda Depardieua, Michaela Douglase, Harrisona Forda, Bruce Willise nebo Roberta Redforda. Svůj hlas propůjčil i kresleným postavičkám z filmů Toy Story: Příběh hraček, 101 dalmatinů či Spláchnutej. Za mistrovství v dabingu byl několikrát oceněn.

Ale ze všeho nejvíc ze stránek dýchá dojem člověka, který skutečně miloval to, co dělá. Protože se mu v hlavě, už když jednu knihu dopisoval, líhla zápletka další, zůstala po něm spousta útržků textů a nápadů.
